Question: .
I would be very grateful for information for a (non-hostile) essay that I'm writing. Do you believe that carnivores, or at least the carnivorous habit, did not exist before the Fall of Adam, as do the Jehovah's witnesses and many "mainstream" evangelical Protestants? If so, could you let me know the details of a reference stating this doctrine?
I very much look forward to your reply. I'm sorry to take up your time.
Yours sincerely,
Richard
Answer:
Dear Richard,
Plain Truth Ministries does not take a rigid "creationist" view. To define that term - that the earth is no older than 6,000 years, that the book of Genesis is a scientific blueprint about the exact specifications and dimensions and timeliness of creation, etc.
We believe that Adam and Eve were the first humans made in the image of God. We do not deny the irrefutable scientific evidence that there were life forms, animals, etc. that existed many thousands of years - tens of thousands - before Adam and Eve. We simply believe that the Bible reveals Adam and Eve to be the first humans made in the image of God. We do not know what happened before, for the Bible does not reveal it. But we do not believe that science and the Bible have to be at war, for the Bible does not speak about life, life-forms, etc. that pre-dated the creation of Genesis 1.
Hope this helps.
In Christ,
Greg Albrecht
