Question: Greg,
I have a wee question to ask then I will be out of your hair for all the rest of eternity. Why is man evil, good, selfish, loving, hating, blessing, disgusted, emancipated, forgiven?
Bishop
Answer: Dear Bishop,
Your question/comment is intriguing. I presume you are asking about the nature of humans. There are many disciplines from which this question can be approached from anthropology, from psychology, from philosophy, from biology, and from theology. I do not claim to be an expert in any of these fields, but I can attest to studying them all, and in specific what they have to say about the nature of humanity. The field in which I am involved, of course, is theology.
This is an inadequate forum space, time, and the impersonal nature of the medium itself to full explore your question. You pointed out the obvious contradictions in man (humanity). The Bible gives the answers that satisfy me. The Bible claims and attests to one God, who is supreme and Creator. He created us. We are imperfect, fallen, and broken humans. We are not complete. There is a void inside each of us that yearns to be filled.
God, in his infinite wisdom and love, determined before the foundation of the world, that He, in the person of Jesus would come into this world to offer salvation to all of us from the broken, imperfect, and corrupted lives we all live. This is the month that Christians celebrate his birth, and it is much more than trees, ornaments, gifts, and Santa Claus. Jesus is the reason for the season, and wise men and women still seek him. If we here at Plain Truth Ministries can help you find him, please let us know how we can help.
In Christ,
Greg Albrecht
