Question: In Ezekiel 37 – please explain – does dry bones apply only to ancient Israel or to us today?

Answer: Dear Patricia,

The purpose of this prophecy was to predict that the nation of Israel would once again be vital and alive. Secondly, there is a sense of spiritual renewal, as the wind or breath of God, the Holy Spirit, brings about spiritual renewal. This event has been happening since the cross, empty tomb, and the founding of the New Testament church when the Holy Spirit was poured out. The third chapter of the Gospel of John will give insight into the spiritual renewal God offers. It certainly does apply to us today, in that the gospel can make dead men and women (spiritually) alive through the new birth, and the indwelling presence of Jesus Christ.
