Question: Dear Greg,
In your answer to Jeff under the heading "Ten Commandments" you stated in your answer that Jesus kept the law perfectly. Are you saying that Jesus kept the 10 commandments perfectly because they were a part of the higher law of the love of God because he was God in the flesh? Surely Jesus did more than just keep the 10 commandments perfectly, didnt he? I am quite sure this is what you are saying but I just wanted to make sure I understood your answer properly.
Dave
Answer: Dear Dave,
No, Jesus did not keep the 10 commandments perfectly because they were part of a higher law of love. The 10 commandments were and are part of the old covenant. Jesus kept the old covenant, all of it perfectly doing for us what we could not do for ourselves. He fulfilled the old covenant. Of course, he did much more than simply obeying the old covenant (obeying the old covenant is but one of many things he did, accomplished, and performed) but he did fulfill it, and by his perfect obedience and his atoning work on the cross ended it ushering in something greater, superior and better the new covenant in his blood.
In Christ,
Greg Albrecht
