Question: Dear Mr. Albrecht,

Could you please be so kind as to tell me whether there’s a difference between a non-believer and a faithless person?

Those familiar with the Scriptures tell me God isn’t moved by anyone’s circumstances but by their faith in Him. How do I demonstrate my faith in God so he would answer my prayers?

Sincerely,

Lazarus

Answer: Dear Lazarus,

In many ways belief and faith are similar. They both involve trust – which is a good description of the relationship God wishes to have with all his children. We must beware, however, of thinking that having faith, or having enough faith, means that God will answer our prayers – in the way that we would like him to – always. God does answer our prayers – sometimes with a "yes" – sometimes with a "no" – and sometimes with a "not now". Hope this helps.

In Christ,

Greg Albrecht
