Question: What happens to people who never heard the word of God, or never heard of Jesus?

Answer: Dear Don,

Your question is a perplexing one for Christians, and one that is used by non-believers to attempt to poke holes in the Christian worldview. It would seem that the problem is that while there are conclusions we can reach from studying Scripture, there is no dogmatic and absolute answer offered in the Bible. Thus, Christians have a variety of answers to this question, while non-believers take a different perspective altogether.

It would seem best to leave such an answer with God, to do our best to respond to God’s call in our own lives – to be involved in sharing the gospel with others, but at the same time realize that God’s will prevails, and that he will, in his providence and sovereignty, ensure that righteous provision is made for all men and women – how he does that may be beyond our human limitations to comprehend.
