Question: I am a Christian and I have been asked this type of situational question so many times: "If Jesus Christ came suddenly and I had to face him, and he asks me what have I done in order for him to accept me in heaven, how do I respond to his question?"

I don’t know what to tell Jesus if he suddenly comes. So if you were asked this question, how would you respond to him? I will wait for your answer and thank you very much!

Answer: Dear Danny,

This is a question which is often asked for a variety of reasons, but perhaps the most constructive help is to consider on what basis that God grants salvation – and of course, Christians know that it is by grace alone. We do not enter God’s kingdom of heaven on the basis of our merits, works, or virtue – we are not granted eternal life because of anything we do, or anything we can ever do – but on the basis of his grace, and on the basis of what Jesus has already done for us, paying a debt he did not owe because we owed a debt that we could not pay.
