Answer: Dear Paul,

The subject to which you refer has historically been called "Original Sin" by Christians – with the primary text for reference being Romans chapter four – specifically verse 12.

Jesus told us that a corrupt tree doesn’t bring forth good fruit – Genesis tells us that our original human parents, Adam and Eve, fell (or crashed!) into sin. Because of their original, or first, sin – the human race is born in sin. Our human nature is sinful.

The fact of sin makes salvation necessary – and the rescue offered to us through Jesus Christ a necessity. We are sinners not because we sin – we sin because we are sinners.
