Question: How do I convince someone that Revelation is not apocalyptic but prophetic? I am teaching a Daniel class. The student in question is Roman Catholic.

Answer: Dear LaQuay,

I am uncertain of the definition you are attaching to apocalyptic and prophetic. The definition popularly used for apocalyptic has both Daniel and Revelation as belonging to that particular genre of writing. The issue of prophecy in the Bible is a huge topic and one that demands much more of a detailed answer than I can provide here.
