Answer: Dear Jener,

Your first sentence – "reality" or "fiction". Do you mean "literal" or "symbolic"? If we accept the Bible as the inspired word of God we cannot say that hell is fiction. The in-house debate among Christians concerns what hell is, when it is, how long it is, how "hot" it is, etc. Most Christians agree that hell is separation from God. After that agreement, Christians then quickly begin to disagree about literal vs. symbolic, how long, when, etc. You might find the following article on hell interesting and informative: Remodeling Hell.
