Question: "The Ten Commandments are no longer relevant to the modern
world". Is this true or false???
Keneiloe
Answer: Dear Keneiloe,
Your question may need to be more specific. Are the 10 commandments "relevant" to our world? Yes, of course. Extremely relevant.
But I suspect that you may be asking Are the 10 commandments "required for salvation" that is, are they "necessary"? Answer: no. Are we living under the requirement of the 10 commandments (which are the core of the old covenant)? Answer: no. Or are we, as Christians, living under the new covenant, based upon the old covenant? Answer: yes, of course.
Perhaps as a response to your question "Are the 10 commandments relevant to the modern world?" sometimes asked by those who would teach that Christians are obligated to obey some/parts of the old covenant, we could ask, "Is the cross of Christ relevant to the modern world, or has it been done away with by those who teach that it is necessary to keep some portion of the old covenant?"
