Question:
Dear Greg,
Are
feelings an accurate guide in matters of religion?
The apostle Paul argued that they were not.
But since you often contradict the teachings of Paul and other apostles,
what do you think? God gave us a
brain and he expects us to use it.
P.N.M.
Answer: Dear P.N.M.,
Of
course I agree with the apostle Paul – feelings cannot be viewed as the
ultimate test of truth. Feelings
are not unimportant, but they are subjective, and therefore do not stand the
analysis of truth that the Bible presents to us.
The gospel of Jesus Christ is all about a personal and intimate
relationship that God offers to us, but it is rational, logical and coherent.
I’m not certain what you are talking about – that PTM frequently
disagrees with Paul. If you want an
answer about some ambiguity about which you re concerned, please let us know.
In
Christ,
Greg
