Question:
Dear Greg,
I
was watching a TV show today about spirits and ghosts and haunted houses.
I have wondered for years what this is all about.
These spirits that people see—is it just their imagination, just
something that makes for good movies, or is there really something to this?
Do the spirits of dead people really roam around in certain places or
not? What are your feelings on
this? What does the Bible say on
the subject?
Edward
Answer: Dear Edward,
The
Bible is clear and specific—there is a spirit world—both good and evil.
Satan the devil and his demons are adversaries of all humans. Satan is a liar; he is perverted, evil and corrupt.
Suffice it to say that he and his demons are not interested in our
welfare.
However,
the Bible is also clear that the One who is in us is greater than the one who is
in the world (1 John 4:4). We need
not fear Satan and his demons, but at the same time we should have nothing to do
with the “fruitless deeds of darkness”
(Ephesians. 5:11).
In
Christ,
Greg
