Question:
Dear Greg,
I
want to know the difference between a Messianic Jew and an Orthodox Jew, not
just that one is liberal and the other is not.
Rebecca
Answer:
Dear Rebecca,
PTM
only offers short answers, not a full research service, so you may want to seek
further input.
In
brief, Messianic Jews claim to accept the sufficiency of Christ for their
salvation, that his atoning work on the cross was all that was and is necessary
for their salvation. However, they
continue their Jewish culture. Some Christians believe that some who call themselves
Messianic Jews do not accept Christ, but continue to rely for salvation upon the
Law of Moses to some degree.
Orthodox
Jews (of course there are others, such as Reform and Hasidic Jews) essentially
are those who live under the old covenant, given to them as a people.
In
Christ,
