Question:  Hi,

Do Muslims teach that there will be no peace on earth unless all Christians and Jews are either killed or in subservient positions?  Is Allah another name for the God of scripture?

Answer:  Dear Sue,

            Some Moslem teachers say that all non-Moslems are infidels and that there will be no peace until the world is at least controlled/dominated by Islamic thought.  We must be careful to note that there are as many interpretations of the Koran as there are of the Bible—and just as Christians differ on many issues, so too do Moslems.  Moderate Moslems (who are in the majority in this world) plead for non-Moslems to realize that radical Moslems are in the minority.  In the same way that many Christians hope that non-Christians do not judge them by some television preachers who exist on the fringes of Christianity.

            However, it is important to note that Christians should avoid falling for the idea that Allah is just another name for the God of the Bible.  Moslems would not accept that the Christian God, the God of the Bible, is just another name for Allah (for of course, among other things, they do not accept Jesus Christ as God in the flesh, Lord and Savior of all humanity).
