            We are taught to fear God.  What does that mean?  God is love.  How can we fear love?

Answer:  Dear Bud,

            The fear of God that the Bible speaks of is not one and the same as the fear we have of disease, crime, etc.  The fear of God is the beginning of wisdom, says Proverbs.  The fear of God that the Bible speaks of is more like reverence and respect for him because of his matchless and supreme love for us.  We thus respect and honor him because he loves us.
