Question:  Dear Greg,

I have a friend who is a professing Christian.  She claims that God gives her visions.  She says that are like “The Celestine Prophecy”, which I understand is New Age.

I am trying to compile biblical evidence that what she is involved in is not of God and that is New Age.  Any help would be greatly appreciated.

            In His grace,

            Mary

Answer:  Dear Mary,

The New Age is a vast and complex group of teachings that is hard to specifically quantify.  Its teachings are, suffice it to say, unbiblical and not Christian at all.  You seem to have reference to pantheism, the idea that God is in all things and that all things are gods.  The Bible, however, clearly says that the one true God is the creator of all things, and that nothing exists that he did not create.  He alone is God.

We did a four part radio series on the New Age, which is available for $15 if you live in the United States or Canada.  If you are interested, call 1-800-509-4466.  Ask for RS 036—“New Age Rage.”
