Question:
Dear
Greg,
Do you have any guidance and information about cell groups?
I would love your thoughts and insight.
Sincerely,
Ron
Answer:
Dear
Ron,
Cell groups have been part of many movements and organizations—including
communism and labor unions. Cell
groups have also been part of the history of the church and they remain part
of the body of Christ today.
Cell groups meet in smaller groups than does a larger congregation for
Bible study and prayer. Many cell
groups multiply, reproducing other cell groups.
In some cases those cell groups join to begin a new church.
Many healthy, well-balanced churches promote cell groups, not solely
for the purpose of starting new churches but for discipleship, where in-depth
study of the belief and practice of Christianity may be studied and learned.
On the other hand, some cell groups have become nothing more than gripe
sessions and gossip groups, which of and by themselves betray the definition
of a Christian cell group.
In Christ,
Greg Albrecht
