Question:  Dear Greg,

            I have heard that the salvation that Christ taught is for the nation of Israel (Judah, Benjamin and the lost tribes) only.  The source I heard this from used Matthew 10:6 and Matthew 15:24 as proof of this.  The source continued to say that the “Gentile nations” will enter God’s kingdom ONLY if they obey the old covenant laws.  Is there any truth to this?  I appreciate any information you may have on this.

Answer:  Dear Marc,

            The passage you quote, if used as you describe, is a perfect example of script-torture.  In order to make such an application, wholesale disregard for the immediate context must be employed, along with a fabricated and bogus view of history.

            In addition, entering God’s kingdom on the basis of personal merit, obedience and performance is an idea that is continually written and preached against throughout the New Testament.  It is completely unbiblical and an enemy of the gospel of Jesus Christ.
