Answer:  Dear John,

            The most biblically accurate short definition I know is: hell is eternal separation from God.  Lots of debate about what that means, primarily because no one we know has gone to hell and come back.  We have plenty of questions and answers posted on this topic with specific issues addressed.  See our category “Heaven/Hell”.
