Question: Dear Greg,
Is the covenant that God made with Noah in which he promised to never again destroy all flesh with a flood (the “rainbow covenant”) still valid or was it nullified by the New Covenant?
Dale
Answer: Dear Dale,
There were a number of covenants in the Old Testament. The one often generically referred to as the old covenant is the covenant at Sinai—the Mosaic covenant. There are others—the covenant of circumcision, the Davidic covenant and the covenant with Noah. The primary covenant that was nullified with the new covenant, the new commandment of Jesus, the covenant of grace, is Sinai (along with its related covenant of circumcision as explained in Acts 15 and Galatians). The rainbow covenant is not affected and is still valid, as conditions of that covenant have not changed.
