Question:   Dear Greg,

Do you think it is ok for a Christian to read the Christian Science Monitor newspaper considering whom it is published by?  I hear it is actually a good newspaper.

            Sue

Answer:  Dear Sue,

I do not believe that the Christian Science Monitor is any more of a danger for a Christian to read than Time magazine, the New York Times or a local hometown newspaper.  While I would not personally make the Monitor my main source of news, I do not believe that a Christian will leave the faith if he or she reads it.  Similarly, simply because we as Christians read, listen to or watch so-called Christian media, it does not mean that we can give away the door to our minds.  Unbiblical teaching is often more easily accepted when the source is considered to be above suspicion rather than when we are on guard for bias, error and/or heresy.

            In Christ,

            Greg Albrecht
