Question:
Dear Greg,
Is
our conscience related to our soul?
Linnie
Answer: Dear Linnie,
Our
conscience seems to be a function of the fact that we are made in God’s image
and that we have some fundamental level of awareness of right and wrong.
The sense of being obligated to do right and proper things and avoid the
wrong, as well as having a general sense of what they are is addressed by Paul
in Romans chapter one. He says that
those who did not know the one true God of the Bible, yet were immoral, knew
better—therefore assuming that they had some understanding of what is known as
natural law. Our conscience does not
seem to be connected to the non-material, spiritual dimension of what makes us
human—our soul or spirit.
Hope
this helps you with your question, Linnie. Thanks
for allowing PTM to be of service.
In
Christ,
Greg
