Question:  Dear Greg,

            What is meant by the phrase “God is not a respecter of persons?”  I’ve heard this phrase used many times by ministers, but never an explanation.

Answer:  Dear Christine,

            The verse from which this idea originates is Romans 2:11.  Paul explains that we are all equal before God.  He taught that neither race, creed, gender, color, etc. gives anyone a head-start or some advantage before God that someone who does not have such a status does not enjoy.
