Question:  Dear Greg,

I have read some of your Q/A’s regarding the age of the earth.  This is not a question, just a comment.  I do not believe in God and I believe in evolution.  That being said, however, I wanted to thank you for your answers regarding the old earth vs. young earth debate.  As a geology student who wants to be a paleontologist, I want to say that your insights are a benefit to my science.  Your answers show that geology is not an evil to be combated.  Not all geologists/paleontologists share my beliefs—in fact, very few do not believe in God.

Again, thank you for your very thoughtful and intelligent answers.

Answer:  Dear Andy,

Thanks for taking the time to send us your thoughts.  One of our goals is to avoid dogmatic “them vs. us” stand-offs that stop communication dead in its tracks.  As you know, we believe in the God of the Bible.  We also believe that he wants us to share the gospel of Jesus Christ with the world.

That being said, we also realize that some Christians have alienated those with whom they wish to communicate.  One survey revealed that the most unwelcome new next door neighbor in the U.S. was a born-again Christian.  The stereotype (unfortunately in large part deserved) is that a Christian will be bigoted, perhaps angry, narrow minded and unable to talk about anything but religion, etc.  Many people are afraid of Christians—and if that’s the case, how can we talk?

We are thankful that we are able to communicate with you.  We have our foundational beliefs, and you have yours.  We are not threatened by your belief in evolution, and are happy to respond to and with you as we can.

Hope you will be a frequent visitor to our site.  We believe that authentic, biblically based Christianity is rational, logical and coherent.  While Christianity is a faith, it is based upon sound intellectual data and historical reality.  That’s our platform and we are delighted to hear that you appreciate it.  Hope you don’t mind me saying, “May God bless you”—for we genuinely pray and hope that he will.

            In Christ,

            Greg Albrecht
