Question:  Dear Greg,

I have been following the news coverage on the fundamentalist Christian movement’s political influence on the Bush Administration concerning Israel’s struggle with the Palestinians—and Muslims in general.  I am concerned that the American government will be pressured to follow a course that will bring it into conflict with Muslim nations around the world.  I don’t agree with the fundamentalist idea of opening the way for Jesus’ return by taking (by force, if necessary) the disputed lands and holy sites.  What may result is a backlash on the Jewish people who have suffered enough throughout history and, as a result, make the USA and Christianity a stench to the rest of the world.

I used to wonder why Plain Truth kept neutral in these matters.  Now I understand.  I guess you guys must have seen it coming.

            Your brother in Christ Jesus,

            Fred

Answer:  Dear Fred,

It’s gracious of you to say that we must have seen it coming, but to be fair, God has not given PTM any insight to see anything that is coming.  By his grace, he has given us insight to see how bogus and unbiblical some claims about special revelation, insight, date setting and general addictions to predictions are.  Those insights, combined with the lessons we have learned in the school of hard knocks are what we share with the world.

We would share your concern that a generally flawed system of dispensationalism, (broken beyond repair when it comes to predictive prophecy) can lead politicians and other influential people to “make certain things happen” and prevent other things from happening, thinking that they are being of service to God.  Unfortunately, Christians have a sad record of misrepresenting God to the world, and in the light of history we should be careful about dogmatic pronouncements in his name.

Thank you for allowing PTM to be of service to you, Fred.  May God bless you!

            In Christ,

            Greg Albrecht
