Question:  Dear Greg,

            I have been having this discussion with a friend of mine about seeing demons.  I have had many instances when I have seen demons and spirits manifesting.  This has only happened when I have been praying and when I have seen them I have them cast out and out they go.  I sincerely believe that this is a level of discernment, as it only happens when it is actually needed—indeed, useful.  My friend, however, believes that as soon as we step inside a place, even before we’ve got there, because of the authority we have in Christ and also because darkness and light cannot share the same place, the demons go.  He also says that nowhere in the Bible will you find any instances of demons manifesting. 

            What do you think?  I know that my experiences tell me otherwise.  I have several friends who have had similar experiences as well as one friend who saw a demon at the same time as I did.  What do you think?

Answer:  Dear Colin,

            My perspective would probably be more in line with that of your friend.  We do not need to fear Satan and his demons because Christ has been victorious over them and God give us his victory by grace.  Satan and his demons are lying spirits—the worst humanly contrived con games and scams are nothing compared to Satan’s lying wonders.  What therefore demons appear to say or how they appear to be “manifested” has little interest to Christians.  Our focus is on Truth—Jesus Christ.
