Question:   Dear Greg,

We have 3 beautiful children, but we have also had 4 miscarriages (three in the past eight months) and I mistakenly ended a teen pregnancy years ago as well.  I would like to know if the Bible gives an answer about whether my five babies will be resurrected.

We feel we should let God decide how many children he blesses us with and feel confident that he will provide all our needs as he promises.  Someone said I’ll see them again and someone else said that they aren’t “human” until birth.  My babies were just “born” too early—and some babies die just minutes before they are born full-term.  Please show me what the Bible says.

Answer:  Dear Christine,

Your love and grief for your lost children is obvious, but you will not find specific answers to your question in the Bible.  Rather, God asks us to put our faith, confidence and trust in him.  There are many specific details we would like to know, but God does not reveal those details to us.  God does not tell us how everything will work out, but he promises to never forsake us, to always love us and to take care of us.  We would like to have details—but God does not offer them.  Rather, he asks us to trust in him and have faith.

What will God do about your children?  God will do something far better than you and I would ever imagine—but what it is exactly we do not know.  Trust in God and thank him for his mercy and grace.  May he comfort you and be with you.

            In Christ,

            Greg Albrecht
