Question:  Dear Greg ,

I am writing in regards to 1 Thessalonians 4:16-17.  Do you hold any position about end times?  I am new to Christianity.  I agree with you strongly about associating every event that occurs today as alluding to end times.  After all, the Bible tells us that no one knows--not even Jesus Christ--when this will occur.  I am always leery when money is to be made from scripture, books, memberships, etc.

Thank you and God bless you and your ministry,

            Norman

Answer:  Dear Norman ,

We have many resources to help you study and ponder this question of how to understand the prophetic teachings of the Bible.  Most of this material is available on our website at www.ptm.org.

For major articles about biblical prophecy go to our archive issues of the Plain Truth and check:

1.      Jan-Feb 1998—our cover story, “The End is Here—Again.  As the Year 2000 Approaches Beware of Millennial Fever”

2.      Jan-Feb 1999—see our story, “Apocalypse 1500—Visions of the End’

3.      May-June 1999—see our story, “Y2K—High Tech Apocalypse”

4.      Nov-Dec 2001—our cover story, “Did America Have it Coming?”

5.      July-August 2001—see “Will You be ‘Left Behind?’”

6.      May-June 2003—see our cover story, with the individual articles, “Left Behind! Will It Happen to You?”, “Left Behind: Prophecy or Fantasy?”, “Four Views of Revelation”, and “Why Pop Theology Should be Left Behind.”

In addition, use our feature, “Search our Site” at www.ptm.org, and type in words and phrases like “end times”, “rapture”and “tribulation”—you will be presented with a host of questions and answers, articles and other resources that will be helpful.

May God bless you Norman, and thank you for allowing PTM to be of service to you.  Biblical prophecy can be a blessing for Christians, but improperly interpreted and sensationalized it can become an addiction, and even lead us away from the main and plain teachings of the gospel of Jesus Christ.

            In Christ,

            Greg Albrecht
