Question:  Dear Greg,

My husband and I have recently started re-attending a Baptist church.  The past few weeks I have been waiting for him to get saved (I did last year).  This Sunday when we returned from church I asked him why he has not yet been saved.  He told me he has a lot of questions: 1) what is the differences in churches; 2) if you are saved, what happens if you sin; and 3) he doesn’t believe in healing.

Please help clarify some of this and where in the Bible he can find references to these questions.

            Thanks,

            Tammy

Answer:  Dear Tammy,

The questions your husband has are typical questions and objections.  In brief:

1.      There are many churches because they are ministering to all parts of the body of Christ.  Jesus tells us that his church is his body, and just as the human body has many parts, so does the body of Christ.

2.      Those who are saved by Jesus’ perfection is given to us, not because (and in spite of) our own sinful flesh.  Final perfection for Christians is imparted to us when we are given an immortal body, upon our own resurrection when Jesus returns to this earth.

3.      Healing.  I presume you have physical healing in mind.  Some Christians believe that the gift of healing is active within the body of Christ today, while other Christians believe that faith healing was a gift of the Holy Spirit given to the early church, but is no longer part of Christianity today.  It is not an essential, core belief (faith healing) for Christians.

            In Christ,

            Greg Albrecht
