Q/A: Recently my pastor asked me to head up a three-person prayer chain.  We also have a prayer chain for the full membership of our church. My pastor told me I have a gift for intercessory prayer and I should meet with him for a commission.  Can you tell me what that is? - Sue

Q/A: In 1 Thessalonians 5:17 the Bible says “pray without ceasing”.  We cannot spend all our time on our knees.  How are we to obey this command? - Dale

Q/A: I want to know how hard I have to pray and how long I will be punished for my past before I will have good luck in my life again.  Does God make us pay for our sins before he forgives us or was I just born under a bad star?  I have had so much bad luck recently that I don’t know if I can take any more. - Tasha

Q/A: Does the Bible say anything about when we should stop praying for a rebellious person?  This past Sunday the pastor said that a rebellious person gets to the point to where they are not going to change, no matter how much you pray for them, so stop praying for them and let God do his work on that person.  Is this right to do?  I have never of this before! - Edward

Q/A: I heard that the shortest prayer in the Bible is “Lord enlarge my coasts”.  Where may I find this prayer?  Who prayed it?  How does one interpret the use of the term, “coasts”? - Dick

Q/A: Does God really listen to our prayers?  I pray to him every night, but there does not seem to be anyone out there listening to me.  How do I know that he’s listening?  Sometimes I just feel helpless and if God is unwilling to help, should I not instead turn to Lucifer?  I don’t want to, but I don’t know what to do anymore. - Jonathan

Q/A: Does God hear/answer the prayers of unbelievers? - Kim

Q/A: Can you tell me the different kinds of intercessory prayer, if there are any?  For that matter, what is intercessory prayer?  I’m confused by the different kinds of prayers one can pray to God. - Char

Q/A:  Luke 11:2 says to pray for his kingdom to come and for his will to be done on earth as it is in heaven. My question is…….I pray for that day. Is that wrong? To pray for the end of the world? I feel guilty sometimes because I feel like I’m praying for the tribulation to happen. - Kelly

Q/A: When we pray, to whom do we direct our prayers?  Jesus Christ?  The Father?  Christ taught his disciples to pray to the Father.  Was Christ (the Word) actually the God of the Old Testament?  I guess what I am looking for is, how does Jesus Christ fit into prayer?  Is it acceptable to pray to Christ?  Praying in Jesus’ name—is that also a way of praying to him or around him?  Through Christ or “around” Christ to reach the Father? I hope you understand my many questions and would give me a little insight. - Anthony

Q/A: Should we pray to Jesus or God?  Or both?  Is Jesus God? Jesus always prayed to God our Father in Heaven.  He typically went off alone in the morning to pray to God.  He taught us the Lord’s Prayer which also starts with “Our Father who art in Heaven…” We speak of the “Father, Son and Holy Spirit.”  Jesus is His son.  Jesus is without sin.  He shed His blood for our sins, for no one goes to the Father in heaven but through him. When we pray, who should we pray to?  Sometimes I lose sight of God as I concentrate a lot on Jesus. - Max

Q/A: I’ve often heard that you must be persistent in your prayers to God.  But when is enough, enough?  When does prayer just become “nagging”?  Does God really need us to keep asking the same thing over and over again? - Christine

Q/A: Could you explain why in Jesus’ teachings on prayer in what we call “The Lord’s Prayer” we are told to ask God to “not lead us into temptation”?  Thanks! - Sue

Q/A: I’ve been having an ongoing disagreement with one of my friends that I hope you may be able to shed some light on. .... The main cause for disagreement has been over the issue of whether prayers are or are not heard if one has not professed to “know” the Lord.  I have taken the stance that God is sovereign and that though an individual may not know Him intimately, that He (the Lord) does not turn a deaf ear to those particular individuals who seek his attention at a given moment out of unique sincerity in the bosom of their hearts.  My wife claims that the Lord will not!  Period! ... - Art

Q/A: Does the Lord hear and/or respond to the prayers of the unsaved at all, no matter how sincerely they may be placed before him, whether in humility and “pure” motive and/or selflessly without regard for personal petition, perhaps only even out of loving concern for the welfare of another in or out of the Lord’s grace? This matter seems to have some tremendous implications as to whether or not millions of prayers are indeed heard or not.  What about the countless souls in groups such as AA, NA, OA, SA, Al-Anon, etc., who pray to a “higher power” and not to the Lord as we know him by his formal name or even through his Son?  Among others are the countless prayers in countless homes at mealtime, bedtime, celebrations, etc., who are prayed in the name of the Trinity though perhaps without knowing God? - Art

Q/A: Should Christians pray or not pray for "fallen" brethren? - Thomas
