PTM WEEKLY UPDATE -- APRIL 28, 2008

Friends of CWR

We increasingly receive uplifting and encouraging notes, phone calls and emails from so many who are friends of Christianity Without the Religion (CWR). You probably know that we prefer to call those who choose to call us "their church" our friends, rather than members. Here's one such recent letter. We encourage all of our CWR friends to keep in touch.

Hi Greg!
I enjoy very much listening to your services with CWR. Thank you so much for giving people like me the real truth. I believe in God, and thanks to him working through you, I have realized that my relationship with God is far more important than my relationship with a church with walls. I EXTREMELY appreciate all that you do.
I honestly, one day, want to start a church just like you (by the way, I'm 13). My mom and dad were divorced several years ago. I still feel so much hurt from that. My dad was a neglectful person, and thanks to God working through you, I now know that I cannot get my emotional needs met through humans. Humans are just like any other human. We're like, HUMAN! (I don't know if that makes any sense). We all have faults, we all are going to sin. I can only get all of my needs met through GOD! (tears . . . ) I cannot tell you how much it means.
Also I have to tell you about an experience I had at a church camp. The minister started to talk about how you need to be accountable to everyone, and how we were going to go with our churches and gather accountability partners and tell other people about all of our faults. I sat there and thought that my church (CWR) is not like that. So I asked him "Where does it say that in the Bible?" He couldn't answer my question. But instead of being cocky, I prayed for him.
I've never told anyone else (except for my family was too, so they know) but our whole family was severely wounded by an experience with an authoritarian church. When our minister taught about the "spare the rod" scripture, my dad thought that was an excuse for abuse.
I just wanted to thank you for all that you do. Our entire family (Mom, sister and me) attends CWR. It is so cool to have a church like this. I haven't yet had a problem with CWR, and we've been part of CWR for two years now. GOD ROCKS!!!
