In the May PTM Partner Letter -- David and Goliath
As Christians, when we read the story of David and Goliath, we realize that this is not a story about simply being brave and courageous as we face overwhelming obstacles in our lives. For Christians this story is about how God can take the most insignificant and overlooked individual, and use them for his glory. This story is about how God can take humble tools (a slingshot and five stones from a brook) and use them to win the victory.
The story of David and Goliath is about how Christians may be “more than conquerors through him” (Romans 8:37) in spite of physical appearances. God can use a sling-shot—he can use a pea-shooter—God can use spit wads. For Christians, the story of David and Goliath is about how God supplies all of our needs in spite of our own shortcomings.
