I recently had a conversation with someone who was feeling a little discouraged because he thought that God didn’t really care about him. He believed that God only works with great people on great projects. He felt like he could never attain the faith of Abraham, David, or the apostle Paul. In his mind, God seemed so far away.

But that is not the God of the Bible. Scripture tells us that God doesn’t just do the big and amazing things—He also works in the small, everyday moments that might not seem exciting or gain much attention. Some of the coolest things He does happen on regular days, in ordinary places, and through regular people like you and me.

Sometimes, we try to fit God into what we think He should be like, expecting Him to only do grand, unbelievable things. We create boxes for God in our minds, hoping He fits neatly inside them. But these boxes limit our understanding of who God really is.

Thinking that God only does the extraordinary is a bit like believing He only cares about the big, important problems. But the truth is, God cares about everything in our lives—even the small, ordinary moments. He’s with us when we’re working, playing, eating, and simply going through our regular days. He cares about you very personally.

Understanding that God is involved in our everyday lives doesn’t make Him any less important; in fact, it shows how detailed and caring He is. The same God who did incredible things, like parting the Red Sea, is the One who notices when a little bird is lost or counts the hairs on our heads (Matthew 10:29–30). He knows when we’re going through tough times, and He knows when we’re simply having a rough morning.      Nothing is too small for Him to notice, and He cares about every little thing in our lives—whether big or small.
