Waiting Patiently – Stuart Segall

The people on the platform feel like travelers caught between two worlds. Theyโ€™re standing in the rain, umbrellas lifted, waiting for something they canโ€™t quite see yet. Thatโ€™s the heart of this picture: the pause before movement, the breath before a decision, the quiet space where life asks you to gather yourself.

The lantern on the wall glows like a small promise or hope, not enough to light the whole path, but enough to remind you that youโ€™re not walking blind. Itโ€™s the kind of light youโ€™ve leaned on many times: faith that doesnโ€™t shout, but whispers just enough to keep you steady.

And that towering structure in the mist, the castle, cathedral, a memory, responsibility, it feels like the weight of everything that stands behind you. The things youโ€™ve lived through. The things youโ€™ve carried. The things that shaped you. Itโ€™s distant, but not gone. Itโ€™s part of your landscape, the way your past is part of your strength.

The wet platform, the scattered leaves, the umbrella- for me, they make the scene feel like a moment of shared humanity. Everyone there has their own story, their own burdens, their own hopes. Yet they stand together in the same rain. Does this resonate… yep!

For me, this picture speaks of the seasons I have been in, and perhaps you too.

A time of reflection, of walking through memories, of honoring anniversaries and losses, of standing still long enough to feel the weight and the grace of your own life.

Itโ€™s a reminder that even when youโ€™re between places, between grief and healing, between responsibility and rest, youโ€™re not alone on the platform. Others stand with you. God stands with you. And the next train surely will come.

Psalm 27:14: “Wait for the Lord; be strong, and let your heart take courage; wait for the Lord!”

It speaks directly to the image of travelers standing in the rain, umbrellas lifted, waiting for what comes next. The verse reminds us that waiting is not empty; itโ€™s a place where strength and courage are formed. Even in the rain, even in the pause before movement, Godโ€™s presence is steady.
